You should plan your pond based upon what you have decided upon when you looked at your money situation which gave you a
good idea as to how much money you have or want to spend on this project.

 Knowing this gives you a good idea of what type of
pond you want in the desired chosen location. By now you need to know not only where your new pond will be but what it will be doing there. Will it have plants and fish or will it just have flowing water or will it be a pond/fountain?


   Your pond should be designed to look as if it was put there a long time ago thru the process of nature. In designing your pond you must decided if you want it to be a natural habitat for small creatures to enjoy such as frogs, local birds.
   You should also think about what materials your pond will be made out of, again chose materials that match the environment otherwise it will look out of place.
 
Children and Pets
They must be safe when in your garden and around your pond.
Curiosity from both pets and kids will be very strong and they will
check it out so you must plan on that and show them that you do not want them to be playing inside and or around your pond.    You must protect your family first so make sure that your children and pets are taught not to play in or near the pond. If they are not old enough to understand  this, then it is up to you to stay with them while they are playing and to take the necessary precaution around your pond to insure that an accident does not happen.
   You also are responsible for any guests as well as unwanted guests from accessing your pond and possibly hurting themselves. Ask
